Hi friends - several months ago, the Viva Las Vegas Fan Club sent out information stating they were trying to get 'A Star for Elvis', to be placed in front of the Riviera Hotel on Las Vegas Blvd. The official website for this group is www.astarforelvis.com.

Other celebrities already have their star, some paid for it themselves and other celebrities stars were paid for by their families. As unbelievable as it seems, Elvis does not have a star. Since no one else is willing to buy this star for Elvis, it remains up to his fans to see that the world's greatest entertainer finally gets a star to honor him.

A star costs $15,000. It sounds like a lot of money, but for something like this, it's really not. If a lot of people pitch in a little bit, the star can soon be bought. This star will be seen by many thousands of people and will be around forever. It should be installed in September. If you go to Vegas, it would be awesome to see the star and know that you helped pay for it. If any celebrity deserves an honor like this, it is Elvis Presley, who was voted 'The Entertainer of The Century'.

Elvis is the most widely impersonated celebrity. 30 years after his death, his magic continues to reach out to new generations of fans and he is as popular today as he was all those years ago.

When I first heard about this appeal for funding for a star, between all the 40,000 Elvis Tribute Artists and between all the millions of Elvis fans worldwide, I assumed that his star would be able to be bought in a matter of days. I was very surprised to hear that 2 months after the campaign started, it is now mid-April, and the committee is only 1/3 of the way toward their goal. Heck, I thought they'd get so many donations that Elvis would have about 5 stars by now.

I know how expensive everything is now - gas prices are astronomical, food prices are high, everything is going up, up, up. But, if everyone pitches in a little bit, the committee can soon reach their goal. Please help. No amount is too large or too small.

Elvis tribute artists - please send what you can to Sue's club. Without Elvis, most ETA's wouldn't be impersonating anyone. You'd be sitting home doing nothing instead of making people happy with your Elvis tribute. All you Elvis fans - think of how much Elvis still means to you - think of how his music makes you smile.

I am not on the committee for this fund-raiser, I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention that the Viva Las Vegas Fan Club still needs your help.

***UPDATE!!** As of early June, the 'Star for Elvis' campaign has collected approximately $10,000! Thank you all so much!! Keep up the good work! Elvis would be touched to know that his fans still remember him!! Any excess donations will be given to the St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Nevada. It's a 'win-win' situation!

Some years, we do a lot of fairs, festivals and concerts open to the public and other years we do more private events, such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and graduations.  So, if you want to see the show and try and get a scarf, you just might have to hire us yourself!

“To all my friends who sent me best wishes for 2007, it did NOTHING at all.
For 2008, could you please send either money, alcohol,
lottery tickets  or gas vouchers!”

We are very proud to be a part of the grand opening of the Fr. Ryan Arts Center. This is a much-needed addition to the area and everyone in the community is invited to attend.

The grand opening event will be on Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 with various demonstrations and entertainment both days. There will be free food, refreshments and soft drinks available, but donations will gratefully be accepted.

When complete, the center will house a theater, gallery, cafe and store, conference room, dance studios, recording studio, musical practice rooms and ceramics studios in addition to classrooms for other arts instruction. There will be two multipurpose rooms, and performances will be on the first floor providing easy accessibility for the young, old and infirm

This project was a long time in the making and is the result of many people's hard work and effort. Please come see this valuable addition to the community.
